Enrollment for Acting for Stage and Screen: The Open Arts Studio is highly selective and admission is on a space-available basis. NYU students who wish to apply for the studio should submit the following materials to the Office of Special Programs:
- A cover letter with your full name, student identification number, and the following phrase: “ NYU Application for Acting for Stage and Screen: The Open Arts Studio.”
- A copy of your transcript from the NYU Albert system. It is not necessary to obtain an official copy from the Office of the Registrar.
- One recommendation letter from an academic representative, preferably an instructor who has obsrved you in a classroom setting.
- Creative résumé
- An audition tape/DVD. For audition specifications, please see Audition Tape for Acting.
- A personal statement which addresses the following:
* What attracted you to this program?
* Why do you think you are prepared for this type of experience, and what do you hope to gain from it?
* Why do you feel training and education are necessary to sustain a career in film, theatre, or photography/visual media?
* Indicate other areas of the Tisch curriculum that interest you.
Be sure to include some specific examples, and please limit your response to three double-spaced pages.
All materials should be submitted in hard copy to the Office of Special Programs, 721 Broadway, 12th Floor. Attention: Admissions
Once the studio director has reviewed your application for admission, a member of the Special Programs Admissions staff will notify you. If you are accepted to the studio, a member of the Special Programs Student Services staff will register you for this studio.
Application deadline: October 10, 2008. NYU students are admitted to the studio on a space-available basis. It is recommended that all students apply early.
