Summer Courses in Recorded Music

Another First

The Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music is the first of its kind to provide professional business and artistic training toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree for aspiring creative entrepreneurs in the music industry.

About our Summer Program

The summer program is a unique opportunity for visiting and NYU students, as well as interested high school students, to gain access to the wide variety of exciting courses offered by the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music.

There are three main areas of curricular study: business, production, and history & criticism. Students take courses on business and legal issues as they relate to the specialized needs of the contemporary music industry. In the recording studio, students are expected to become proficient in a range of recorded music practices. Students also explore critical writing and music journalism, delving into the cultural impact of recorded music and the history of contemporary musical genres such as rock, R&B, hip-hop, and pop, world and electronica.

Think Summer. Think Tisch.

These courses are available to any individual looking to take courses within the Clive Davis Department of Recorded Music during the summer of 2009.
