Student Life
With a population of just under eight million, London is Europe’s largest city. Known as one of the most influential cities in the world, London is an ideal setting for a study abroad experience filled with life-changing challenges and opportunities. Cinemas, international restaurants, sports, museums, galleries, theaters and outdoor markets are just a sample of all that awaits in this European metropolis.
All academic and writing classes will be held at the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA). The ICA provides a forum for new and alternative arts, and encourages more contact between the avant-garde and popular culture. This central London venue hosts film festivals and cinematic retrospectives, exhibitions, gallery talks and a new media center. The facilities include classrooms, offices, galleries, bookshops, a café and bar. All students will automatically become members of ICA for the semester, giving them preferential ticket pricing on events. RADA classes will be held at the RADA, 62 Gower Street. BBC classes will be held at BBC Elstree Centre in Borehamwood and BBC Centre at Maryleborne High Street.
Housing
Our students share housing with NYU London students. NYU in London offers various housing options at different prices, and aims to meet students preferences and find appropriate housing assignments. All housing is carefully monitored by staff, and have resident assistants living on site to deal with any problems or issues as they arise, and to act as a resource and support for students.
NYU housing is conveniently located within walking distance of where your academic courses are held. The "flats" are double- or triple-room apartments shared by six to eight students. All apartments are fully furnished with linens, towels, private bathrooms, and small kitchen facilities. Each apartment has a kitchen that includes washing machine, small refrigerator and freezer, cooker, microwave and hotplates. Basic kitchen utensils, dishes and flatware for each student will be provided. Students can cook meals in their rooms or eat out. Supermarkets and local restaurants that fit a student’s budget are highlighted in the guide you receive upon arrival. You are provided with a fitted sheet, pillow, pillowcase, comforter and one towel. These linens are changed once a week. If you desire more bedding or towels, pack accordingly.
