All students in the Tisch School of the Arts Summer High School Programs are expected to abide by the behavioral standards outlined by the University below, as well as by the Summer Housing License and the Tisch House Rules.
Safety
We are greatly concerned for our students' safety and well-being during their time at Tisch. As such, a curfew has been established. Students must be in the residence hall by 9 p.m. when not at a group event, and must be in their rooms by 11 p.m. When leaving the residence hall students must follow the established sign-out procedure and must be accompanied by at least one fellow student or resident assistant (RA). Students may not leave the dormitory for any length of time exceeding one hour. Additionally, no visitors are allowed for the duration of the program, including immediate family. Access to NYU buildings and facilities is strictly controlled, both during the summer and the academic year, in order to ensure that students are granted the maximum amount of privacy and safety possible. Visitors to the Summer High School Programs compromise the safety of the programs and distract the students from focusing their energy and talent on the programs themselves. Therefore, absolutely no visitors are allowed. Please be aware that unauthorized visitation to participants could result in their expulsion from the programs with no refund.
Substance Abuse
Using any illegal drug is punishable by law, and will not be condoned. In addition, smoking and alcohol consumption will not be permitted by any student in these programs, even if they have reached the New York State legal ages of majority. Any student discovered using any of these substances will be expelled from the programs immediately and no refund will be issued.
Respect
We will not condone discriminatory conduct toward any person affiliated with the Tisch Summer High School Programs or outside of the programs. Such conduct includes, but is not limited to, discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, race, or age. Students are also expected to treat all equipment, both in the residence hall and in the classrooms, with respect. Students will be held liable for any damaged equipment, furniture or space. Failure to follow these codes of acceptable behavior, including program curfews, can lead to expulsion from the Tisch Summer High School Programs. Expelled students will not receive any refund of tuition or fees. If you feel that you cannot abide by any of these rules and regulations for any reason, we strongly suggest that you not apply for any of the Tisch Summer High School Programs.
