The Arts in Dublin

  • June 28–August 9, 2008

Our program in Dublin offers students the opportunity to study the dramatic and cinematic arts while living in this vibrant European capital. Students are housed in apartments in the Temple Bar neighborhood, Dublin’s artistic and intellectual meeting ground, in the heart of the city. In addition to courses that focus on contemporary Ireland and its culture, a number of field trips and cultural and social activities are integral to the program. Possible day trips include visits to museums and historic sites in the region, with theatre outings, poetry readings, traditional music, and film screenings in the evenings. One weekend excursion will include a trip to Galway and the Aran Islands. Students select two of four courses for a total of 8 points.

Graduate Courses

Graduate credits are offered for Acting Contemporary Irish Playwrights, Contemporary Irish Drama and Cinema in Contemporary Ireland. While graduate students attend the same classes and lectures as undergraduates, they are expected to write a research paper for each course and to take full advantage of their professors’ area of expertise in terms of advice, supervision, and use of research resources in Dublin.
