Each day starts in the company of the entire high school class. As a group, students enjoy breakfast, which usually consists of cereals, eggs, yogurt and fruit. Soon thereafter students depart via city train to center city. From there, film students walk a short distance to the Tisch Center while drama students arrive at their destination, Trinity College.
Throughout the day film students will spend a portion of their time in class with their professor, the rest of it will be spent with teaching assistants in production of two video projects. The first project is a collaborative music video, while the second is a short film that each student will develop and direct individually. Film students will get training in using PD150 cameras and edit using Final Cut Pro.
Drama students spend their day in the Samuel Beckett Theatre at Trinity College Dublin. There, they alternate sessions with different tutors in the fields of Movement, Clowning, Make-up, Voice, Scene Study and Acting, Playwrighting, and Monologues. All of these studies will be demonstrated in the final performance at the end of the month.
Lunch is provided to all students each day from ‘The Bakery’, where sandwiches are served with tasty pastries and refreshments of choice. Other options for lunch include quiche, soup and salad, to name a few.
After classes have finished students return to the Tisch Center – the perfect time for emailing. This is followed by dinner, where Resident Assistants will guide the students to a city restaurant, or to a grocery store, should they prefer to dine in and prepare a meal as a group. Whether it be Irish, Italian, Indian, Chinese, or simple burgers and fries, students enjoy the flexibility of options to choose from.
In the evening students have some free time where they may choose to prepare for the next day, relax and have fun with new friends. A weekly trip to the theatre and the cinema is also part of the schedule.
Sometimes students watch movies, tell stories, or listen and play music for one another during their free time.
On weekends we take day trips to historic sights, the beach and go shopping. One weekend in particular is reserved for a trip to Galway and the Aran Islands. Both film and acting students, with Resident Assistants and other staff, take time out for this beautiful holiday out West. Due to our busy schedule, we also make time to have students work on their various projects over weekends.
The Tisch Dublin High School program is fun filled and aims to have all participants reach their greatest creative potential, while also striving to give students a true experience of living abroad in Ireland.
