NYU Dublin joins HotPress magazine to select bands or artists to collaborate with and have a video made by Tisch filmmakers. Using Ireland’s extraordinary musical tradition, known for artists such as U2, the Pogues, Van Morrison, the Corrs, the Cranberries, Bill Whelan, the Chieftains, and Enya, students become part of the vibrant music scene unique to Ireland.
Through a series of production exercises, students learn to translate music into video format. Under the instruction of Ireland’s leading music video directors, producers, and engineers, students acquire a comprehensive understanding of music video production, marketing, and distribution. Ultimately, students work in crews of four at various location shoots to make their own music video for a Hot Press magazine artist. Using a palette of postproduction tools, including Final Cut Studio, students work with expert Apple Certified Trainers on music video postproduction special effects and nonsynchronous sound/video editing.
